    AKUMAL TRAVEL TIPS & CHECKLIST

    1. You must have a Passport!
    2. Unless you plan to purchase costly items when a Visa or MasterCard is necessary, Cash or Travelers checks are a lot easier to deal with. Not all restaurants accept credit cards. $500 per person should be plenty of cash for a weeks stay.
    3. There are Taxis and Suburbans for hire in Akumal, but your best bet is to have your Travel Agent book a car for you at the Cancun airport so it will be waiting when you arrive and you will have it to visit the Ruins and surrounding areas.
    4. Check with your doctor to see if he recommends you bring any preventative medicine such as Bactrim. There is a doctor available at a Clinic 5 miles (8 kms) south of Akumal if needed.
    5. Bring your Diver Certification if you have it. Also bring your own SCUBA or SNORKELING gear if you have it. If not you can rent it in Akumal.
    6. Bring one pair of comfortable rubber soled shoes for climbing Mayan pyramids, walking and tennis.
    7. Bathing suits, sunglasses, suntan lotion, sun hat and a lightweight windbreaker, sweater or shawl.
    8. Camera & Film, A small Flashlight and one Beach Towel
    9. Shorts and lightweight shirts, one lightweight pair of long pants, socks and insect repellent for jungle treks.
    10. Ladies: one or two casual sundresses or skirts if you like to dress up for dinner. (you can buy colorful ethnic clothing at the boutiques in the area)
